Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS), the mountain bike development department within Scottish Cycling, is inviting applications for new members to join its advisory committee — a group that helps govern the department, helps steer the strategic direction, partnerships, and growth of DMBinS.

The DMBinS Committee plays a key role in supporting the Head of DMBinS and Scottish Cycling CEO to deliver Scotland’s vision for mountain biking.

Committee members provide insight, advice, and challenge to ensure DMBinS to drive positive impact for communities, the economy, the health and wellbeing of Scottish people, and the environment.

Nick Rennie, CEO of Scottish Cycling, said:

Mountain biking is one of Scotland’s great success stories — it brings together adventure, community, health, and economic opportunity in a way few other sports can. We believe DMBinS is central to that success, and the committee plays an invaluable role in helping us deliver on our ambitions.

We’re looking for passionate, skilled individuals who can help shape the next chapter and help strategically and sustainably grow the impact of DMBinS and for Scottish mountain biking and ensure we continue to lead the way internationally.

Committee members are volunteers who bring their experience from sectors such as outdoor recreation, tourism, community development, health, education, sustainability, and land management.

They provide guidance on the impact of DMBinS, help monitor financial and organisational performance, and champion collaboration across Scotland’s diverse mountain bike ecosystem.

Barry Edmondson, Chair of the DMBinS Committee, added:

Being part of the DMBinS Committee is a fantastic opportunity to influence the direction of mountain biking in Scotland. The committee brings together people who care deeply about our trails, communities, and riders.

We work collaboratively to support the Head of DMBinS and Scottish Cycling in delivering tangible outcomes that benefit riders, local economies, and Scotland’s reputation as a world-class mountain biking destination.

DMBinS Committee Members typically meet four times per year, with occasional additional meetings or workshops. The roles are voluntary, and reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Appointments are made for an initial three-year term, with the opportunity for renewal.

Applications are open to anyone with relevant experience, insight, and enthusiasm for developing mountain biking in Scotland.

To express your interest, please submit a short statement (max 500 words) outlining your background, motivation, and how you could contribute to the DMBinS Committee along with an up to date CV.

Applications and informal enquiries should be sent to Graeme.mclean@scottishcycling.org.uk by 12noon 1st December 2025.
