Introducing the 2026 Fresh Cuts Cohort!

We are stoked to introduce you to this year's Fresh Cutters! Please join us in wishing them luck and following their journey!

Fresh Cuts 2 7 Group

We’re excited to welcome the newest Fresh Cuts cohort — a talented group of creators bringing fresh perspectives, bold storytelling, and a shared passion for outdoor adventure sports.

Over the next six months, these trainees will be learning, experimenting, and creating under the guidance of industry mentors. From mountain biking and bikepacking to filmmaking, photography, and social content, each member brings a unique background and a powerful creative voice.

Whether they’re stepping into content creation for the first time or expanding their skills into new areas, this group is ready to push boundaries and share stories that celebrate community, adventure, and the Scottish outdoors.

Bryn Appleton is a 20-year-old mountain biker and content creator from Cornwall, now based in the Tweed Valley. Growing up with limited access to a local riding scene, Bryn found inspiration through online mountain biking content (mainly Cut Media content!) — a spark that shaped both his riding and creative ambitions.

After falling in love with Scotland’s trails, scenery, and riding community, he made the move to Innerleithen to pursue a career in the sport. Through the Fresh Cuts programme, Bryn is focused on developing his technical and creative skills, with the goal of building a career in mountain biking and social media, from short-form content to longer storytelling formats.

Bryn is a lover of racing including enduro and endurance races. He hold the record for being the youngest ever race finisher of the HT550 and recently became the U23 24hr National Champ at the Strathpuffer!

Give him a follow.

Finlay Anderson is a mountain bike media professional with nearly a decade of experience across photography, editorial, and content management. Having started his career with an internship at ENDURO Magazine in the Tweed Valley, he went on to work as an editor for ENDURO, Content Manager for ESO Sports, and as a freelance creative collaborating with brands, events, and organisations across the mountain biking world.

Deeply passionate about adventure and two-wheeled storytelling, Finlay is now looking to expand his skillset into videography through the Fresh Cuts programme — building the confidence and tools needed to tell compelling stories in a new medium.

Meet Jamie Edmondson — a mountain biking athlete turned filmmaker, bringing a unique blend of elite racing experience and creative storytelling to the Fresh Cuts programme. Jamie has lived and breathed mountain biking his whole life, competing from the age of ten and achieving major milestones including a World Enduro Championship overall title and a Downhill World Cup podium.

After an injury in late 2024 shifted his focus off the bike, Jamie turned to filmmaking and quickly taught himself the basics. This led to a role with Sleeper Co at the 2025 UCI Downhill World Cup series, where he gained hands-on experience across interviews, documentaries, race recaps, and same-day social content.

Now, Jamie is ready to take the next step — creating work that is fully written, shot, and produced by himself, and expanding his storytelling into new directions through Fresh Cuts.

With a passion for sharing people’s stories and a drive to explore every side of content creation, Jamie is excited to build a broader creative career and continue showcasing the world through his lens.

Please give Jamie a follow.

Meet Monica Anderson — a passionate cyclist, filmmaker, and creative storyteller with a deep love for the Scottish outdoors. Monica brings a strong background in sports content creation and documentary work, backed by a recent HND in Audio Visual Technology. Her experience spans video production, photography, design, and marketing, and she’s already been creating compelling content in her role as Sales and Digital Media Executive at Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative.

Monica is especially proud of launching the “Women on Wheels” events, a workshop series designed to empower women and non-binary cyclists through skills, confidence, and community. She’s now looking to build on her technical abilities and find her creative voice through the Fresh Cuts programme, aiming to work with cycling communities, governing bodies, and agencies to document events and share stories that encourage more people to get outside.

Meet Somhairle (Sorley) Johnston — a Gaelic content creator with a strong passion for storytelling and a growing career in media. Over the past five years, Sorley has built a diverse skill set across planning, scripting, filming, editing, presenting, and acting, with a particular focus on creating content for younger Gaelic audiences.

Sorley’s journey began with a Gaelic Media course at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, and since then he has produced work across TikTok, radio, TV, and short films — often in Gaelic and aimed at bringing the language into mainstream digital spaces.

He loves creating content and is keen to develop his skills as a self-shooting director while also exploring further opportunities as a presenter. He enjoys being in front of camera and, his dream was fulfilled when last week, BBC ALBA released six short films featuring Sorley about bike packing in Scotland. 'Somhairle Spins' is now available on BBC iPlayer. Amazing watch! Please do give them a go.

Through Fresh Cuts, he hopes to refine his camera work, editing, and storytelling, while continuing to create content that celebrates Gaelic culture in fun and engaging ways.
