Aims of the Scottish Mountain Bike Conference 2022
We want to bring the whole of the mountain bike sector together to engage, discuss, connect, inform, and drive forward mountain biking both in Scotland and globally.
- Highlight Scotland’s mountain biking success stories and the growing number of opportunities for growth with major strategic investment from the public and private sectors into our sport.
- Enhance Aberdeenshire’s global reputation as an exciting, emerging mountain bike destination and showcase Scotland, the leading European nation behind its delivery.
- Progress update and consultation of a refresh of the Scottish Mountain Bike Strategy 2019-2025.
- Prepare the sector to take full advantage of a billion eyes being on Scotland for the UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023.
- Engage industry leaders to discuss the latest innovations, including e-bikes, and the future direction for the sector.
- Showcase how a wide variety of partnerships deliver and improve mountain biking in Scotland.
- Engage with decision-makers at national, regional, and local government to ensure politicians are aware of how mountain biking contributes to their objectives and targets.
- Leading on innovative and ground breaking programmes that work towards ensuring mountain biking is as inclusive as it can be including the delivery of projects specifically designed to support people with mental or physical health issues.
- Support the industry/sector/region to recover from the Covid 19 Pandemic and Storm Damage of winter 2021/22.
- Provide an opportunity for Scottish businesses to have their products tested and showcased to a global audience.
- Ensure that Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS), Scottish Cycling and Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland (MTBCoS) are an active force in driving forward the development of mountain biking in Scotland.
- Facilitate an international press visit, providing the opportunity for Scottish businesses to have their products tested and showcased to a global audience.
