Rider2Leader 2025
This year we have relaunched our Rider2Leader (R2L) format, with exciting, progressive pilots aimed at increasing the diversity across mountain bike leaders and tutors.
This year we delivered the first of our progressive Rider2Leader programmes that look to address some of the most frequent concerns we get from women looking to go into mountain bike leadership; namely a lack of confidence in technical components like navigation and trailside repairs and a fear they would be holding up the rest of the group when riding.
We know there are some awesome women out there who would make great leaders and we also know the more women we have out there leading, the more women will be inspired to take that challenge, its a domino effect and we want to accelerate that.
So this years women specific Rider2Leader programme is in 2 stages, delivering leaders from the outset at a grassroots level!
We will then support up to 8 of these women to take their leading to the next level with the traditional rider2leader course; 2 days of confidence building, misconception busting, supported workshops to upskill you in trailside repairs and navigation along with some cracking coaching from our amazing tutors and aspiring tutors.
And at the end of all of this, with your own personalised action plan, we hope you will have the confidence to take that next step and book onto a Trail Leader (previously Level 2 MTB Leader) training.
We cannot cover accommodation and lunches (simply to keep costs down and not everyone needs these) but we do offer coffee and cakes in the afternoon.
Off Road Leader Award (previously Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leadership)
- May 2025 @ Comrie Croft and Glenmore Lodge
-
Please note, these workshops have now closed for bookings but there was such a great amount of interest, if we are able to source funding we would love to run another!
Cost: £40 per person (to cover registration with British Cycling)
Further information: We loved running these workshops and had two amazing venues to run them at! As always in May, the weather was very Scottish so across the days we have seen glorious sunshine, blustery showers and, for the course out of Glenmore, a wee dusting of snow on the tops of Cairngorm! Stunning places and amazing backdrops for our brilliant participants to explore mountain bike leadership!

- **REGISTER YOUR INTEREST** Rider2Leader confidence building workshops for aspiring Trail Leaders (previously Level 2 MTB Leadership)
-
Dates: Tuesday 9th and 10th September 2025
Cost: £25 per person
Further information: These two days will take you through the Trail Leader (Level 2) Award syllabus. Designed specifically to raise confidence and support you into taking that next step in your leadership journey, our amazing tutors / aspiring tutors will design the workshops around your needs.
This workshop is open to those who have been through the Off-Road Leader/FunMBL programme and also those looking to go directly to Trail Leader with no previous qualifications, just an ability to ride most red grade trials at a trail centre and a love for leading those into more technical terrain than the Off-Road Leader/FunMBL enables.
This course does not provide you with a qualification, they are designed to support you into taking that next step to Trail Leader training with confidence.
These workshops will take on a similar format to the women specific workshops described above but are specifically for adaptive mountain bikers.
Supported by Neil from the Adaptive Riders Collective, please keep an eye on our socials if you are an adaptive mountain biker with aspirations to lead other riders and share the passion of off road cycling.
