Stu Thomson - Cut Media / Gravelfoyle
A former World Cup Downhill rider turned founder of content studio Cut Media, Stu’s CV and the sport of mountain biking are closely linked.
Stu's racing career included multiple Scottish titles, a British Junior title and being the first Scottish mountain biker ever to climb on to a World Cup podium. Yet upon sustaining a career ending injury in 2006 Stu picked up a camera and proceeded to define much of what we know of mountain bike video content today. Initially through his own website Stu was involved in the first ever live stream and daily coverage of UCI world championship MTB event before turning to more creative productions and delivering some of the best known MTB film content on our screens. He’s most notable for his work with long time friend Danny MacAskill where collectively the pair have racked up videos that have achieved hundreds of millions of YouTube views.
Cut Media has since grown into a 25 strong team based in Glasgow, working across multiple sports for brands and broadcasters across the world and still delivering mountain bike work for the likes of Santa Cruz, adidas and Red Bull.
More recently Stu has been involved in a stand out community project in Aberfoyle, Scotland. Initially being a founder of the Dukes Weekender gravel event which has now evolved into community interest company Bike Trossachs who have created the hugely successful destination brand ‘Gravelfoyle.'
