We are delighted to be bringing you the Scottish Mountain Bike Conference and Awards and to be hosting it, back in the Tweed Valley for the first time since 2014.
The conference taking place at the stunning, centrally located Macdonald Cardrona Hotel and Spa and will feature global mountain bike leaders, exciting announcements, international media trips, discussion and consultation on the future of Scottish mountain biking, and much more!
The conference will showcase the excellent mountain biking available in the Tweed Valley, wider Scottish Borders and across Scotland to an international industry audience.
The aim of the conference will be to learn from global examples of good practice in mountain biking and then consider how we can individually and collectively make a difference at a local level.
We think now, more than ever, it is important that we bring together the whole eco-system within mountain biking to understand how we rebuild the industry in a more sustainable, equitable, and collaborative way. We think the only way we can achieve this is to bring the industry, public sector, and communities together and discuss how we collectively achieve this whilst being inspired by global examples.
It's shaping up to be an unmissable event. A full programme is in development and will be announced shortly.
Potential delegates now have the opportunity to choose from different conference packages and take advantage of an early bird rate, which will be available until the 10th September.
Graeme McLean - Head of Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland
We are excited to be bringing the Scottish Mountain Bike Conference back to the Tweed Valley after ten years and we look forward to working with partners to deliver what is now the second biggest global mountain bike conference. The conference will showcase the region’s mountain biking credentials and ambition to the world.
It is expected that the conference will attract around 250 to 300 delegates over the 3 days event from Scotland, the rest of the UK and internationally. The delegates are likely to work directly in mountain biking or in a field which encompasses mountain biking including: tourism businesses, land managers, local authorities, public sector agencies, cycling organisations and academics. It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the successes in Scottish mountain biking, whilst looking to the future to ensure we continue to develop the sport in a sustainable manner.
The opening day (7th November) will focus on planning for the future for those involved in mountain biking tourism, product development and the sustainable economic growth of the sport and the trail network of the UK. An exciting line up of speakers from industry leaders to academics and sector experts will be presenting and discussing macro challenges and opportunities which are being played out on a global scale. The first day will close with a social evening with films, a 'Taste of the Tweed' buffet and local beverages.
Day two (8th November) will focus on how to sustainably grow participation in mountain biking and our trail network with the launch of two new exciting programmes. A full programme of inspirational speakers and informative workshops will be delivered during the day and the day will close with delicious food, local beverages and the much-anticipated Scottish MTB Awards. A chance for everyone involved in Scottish mountain biking to join together and celebrate this very special community.
The last day of the conference (9th November) will offer delegates and volunteers the opportunity to attend a variety trail dig clinics and ride clinics across the Valley.
DMBinS will draw on support and input from the Scottish Government, Edinburgh Napier University, and leading industry figures to deliver an exceptional conference.
