Scotland - Yours To Ride Responsibly
With so many new visitors coming to Scotland for the World Champs and many more with eyes on us through the global TV coverage, we wanted to produce a short film to showcase Scotland’s amazing landscapes, perfect for exploring by mountain bike, while highlighting our opportunities and responsibilities under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Scotland – Yours to Ride Responsibly
With so many new visitors coming to Scotland for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and many more with eyes on us through the global TV coverage, we wanted to produce a short film to showcase Scotland’s amazing landscapes, perfect for exploring by mountain bike, while highlighting our opportunities and responsibilities under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. We worked with NatureScot and DWACo to bring these messages to life.
One of the things that makes Scotland so special is our world-renowned access rights. The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 established a right of access to most land and inland water in Scotland. These access rights extend to mountain biking and give us the unique opportunity to explore Scotland responsibly.
The Scottish Outdoor Access Code shows how, by taking responsibility for our own actions, respecting the interests of other people, and caring for the environment, we can all share the joy of the outdoors.
For further details on the key points within the Code relevant to mountain biking, including many good practice examples, see our Do The Ride Thing guidance.
Many thanks to the friends and loved ones we pulled in to help with filming. Mary and Johnnie, Louis, Simon, Gord, John, Johnny and our ride planners, Nick and Pippa! 😊
