Aims of the Scottish Mountain Bike Conference 2022

Dr Hollie Fountain has worked at Edinburgh Napier University for the past 8 years. She is a Lecturer in Sports Psychology and Coach Development, and researcher for the Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland (MTBCOS).
Hollie started mountain biking to fill the gap between alpine ski racing seasons, and to find another excuse to be out on the mountain. Now, you will mostly find her soaking up the outdoors either on the snow or in the water, towing her children round the trails of Scotland and The Lakes, or in the café (probably eating cake).
Hollie’s academic research has centred around psychological resilience, and how those who experience extreme challenges can develop new skills and often grow as a consequence. Her PhD studied this concept within elite sport, but much of her subsequent research has focussed on how challenging activities such mountain biking can be used to help a more general population develop their psychological wellbeing.
This winter, we are delighted to again team up with Mountaineering Scotland and their mountain safety partners to promote important winter…
We have been working with FLS and trails associations to plan how best to get forests open safely. We need to work with and support landowners with an agreed work plan in place and this was discussed during this webinar.
