Tweed Valley Mountain Bike Rider Survey 2024
If you’ve ridden in the Tweed Valley in 2024 then we want to hear from you. Your feedback will help shape the future of mountain biking in the Tweed Valley.
In September this year, the Tweed Valley Mountain Bike Stakeholder Group was reinstated. This group brings together all key stakeholders in the valley to ensure alignment on strategies for further development of mountain biking in the Tweed Valley.
Stakeholders include Forestry and Land Scotland, Scottish Borders Council, South of Scotland Enterprise, South of Scotland Destination Alliance, Tweed Valley Trails Association, Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland, Go Tweed Valley, Sustrans, Visit Scotland, Scottish Cycling, and a representative for community groups. We will also be advertising for a rider representative in the new year.
One of the findings from the initial meetings was that there was a lack of current data on specific aspects including the demographic of riders visiting the valley, trail use, rider needs, and levels of rider engagement with businesses in the Tweed Valley. The aim of this survey is to both address the gaps in knowledge and bring data up to date.
By working in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University to develop the survey and interpret the data, we’ll maximise the potential insights from the answers we receive.
The Tweed Valley is only one of the awesome places to ride in Scotland and is one of the destinations (alongside Aberdeenshire) that DMBinS has locally designated and funded staff. These specific roles not only maximise the development and business opportunities that mountain biking brings but working as part of the Tweed Valley Trails Association, developing and improving the trail network in the Valley and across the Scottish Borders.
Riders needs, expectations and requirements should match the strategic plan for the area. By having concrete data on key topics we can ensure that planning matches requirements. Topics covered include:
- Trails
- Accommodation
- Facilities and services
- Rider profile
By taking a few minutes to complete this survey, you'll be providing valuable feedback that will be shared with key stakeholders in the region. Your responses will directly contribute to guiding the future development of mountain biking in the Tweed Valley, ensuring that it remains a top destination for riders from around the UK and beyond.
Survey Details:
- Duration: 5-10 minutes to complete
- Your responses will be confidential, and managed by Edinburgh Napier University.
- Survey closes: 13th January
