NEW FILM URBAN DELIGHTS CELEBRATES SCOTLAND’S PUMP TRACK REVOLUTION AND LAUNCH OF INTERACTIVE MAP

Fresh Cuts graduate Aimi Kenyon today launches Urban Delights, a powerful new short film profiling the positive impact of pump tracks across Scotland. The release coincides with the unveiling of a new interactive map that showcases every pump track in Scotland, making it easier for people to discover these important community cycling facilities.

Scotland is home to a truly world-class spread of pump tracks. They bring the trails to the towns and increase the accessibility of mountain biking to so many new people. Pump tracks are a fun, free, and accessible way for people of all ages to get active. Found in parks and communities across Scotland, they offer a safe, traffic-free space for cycling, scootering, skateboarding, and even adapted bikes.

They bring people together, support youth engagement, and can inspire the next generation of riders. Pump tracks also benefit local economies by attracting visitors, and their durable, low-maintenance design means they can be enjoyed year-round.

Urban Delights is the culmination of Aimi’s journey through the Fresh Cuts programme, supported by ourselves, Cut Media and Screen Scotland, which gives emerging filmmakers hands-on training and mentorship.

In the film, Aimi visits pump tracks from the Borders to the Highlands, capturing the stories of riders, community leaders, and young people whose lives have been enriched by these facilities.

Aimi’s film captures the joy, connection, and opportunity pump tracks bring.

Aimi Kenyon said:

Making Urban Delights has been an absolute joy. I loved travelling across Scotland, visiting pump tracks and hearing first-hand the incredible impact they have on individuals and communities.

The Fresh Cuts programme, and the training from Cut Media and Screen Scotland, has been invaluable—I’ve learned so much and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to tell this story.

The release coincides with the unveiling of a new, national interactive map developed by DMBinS. It is a free online resource that enables riders, families, and community groups to find pump tracks near them. It also provides an insight into what to expect at the facility and other useful information.

Spotlighting every pump track in Scotland, making it easier than ever for people to discover and enjoy these important community cycling facilities.

Graeme McLean, Head of DMBinS, said:

Scotland is home to a truly world-class spread of pump tracks and we have been delighted to support the development of many of them over the last 15 years. Bringing the trails to the towns and increasing the accessibility into our amazing sport and introducing so many new people to its joys.

This new interactive map is a celebration of what’s been achieved – and an invitation to get involved, ride more, and support local cycling facilities. It will make it easy for people across the country, and beyond, to locate these fantastic facilities. Aimi’s film captures the joy, connection, and opportunity pump tracks bring, and it’s been a pleasure to work with her through the Fresh Cuts programme.

The launch event is taking place today at Scotland’s largest youth club, Castlemilk Youth Complex and the nearby Cathkin Braes pump track, a venue that features prominently in the film for its work in inspiring more young people to get on bikes.

The Castlemilk Youth Complex is a shining example of how pump tracks can break down barriers to cycling participation.

Michael Hanrahan, Streetwise Coordinator at Castlemilk Youth Complex, said:

The pump track at Cathkin Braes has been a game-changer for our community. We’ve seen more young people, and families, getting involved in cycling—many for the first time. It’s about more than just riding bikes; it’s about confidence, friendship, and creating positive experiences that last.
