TWEED VALLEY - Best Trail Network / Trail Centre 2022 Singletrack Reader Awards
The hotly contested Singletrack World Reader Awards for 2022 were announced yesterday and it was pretty awesome to see the Tweed Valley named as the Best Trail Network / Trail Centre for 2022. To be honest - we were not surprised!
FNY Collective accept the award! So cool to see this.
So many things have contributed to making the Tweed Valley the best place to ride in the UK. In particular the work of Forestry and Land Scotland and the Tweed Valley Trails Association.
Their collaborative work keeping the trail network sweet and building a community of riders that are passionate about looking after them has been crucial in the escalation of the destinations profile. The amazing trails on offer bring folks back time after time.
With over 350 trails totalling in excess of 230 km it’s hard not to be drawn to the Tweed Valley for riding.
From the 7Stanes trail centres, Glentress, ideally setup for year-round riding for all levels and Innerleithen, which has a trail centre loop of its own, a wide range of Enduro trails and an Uplift Service, providing pedal free access to near the top of the DH tracks.
Over the Valley is Caberston Forest, AKA The Golfie, where steep, techy Enduro trails are the flavour of choice. The trails have hosted numerous races over the decades including several rounds of the Enduro World Series and draws thousands of riders every weekend.
The Tweed Valley has much more to offer to those looking to explore and find a bit of remoteness and adventure. With the freedom of responsible access through the Scottish Outdoors Access Code (SOAC), up and down the valley there are various forests and hills to explore. Superb gravel routes and tracks offer a means to get remote and access many of the quieter hill tops and glens around the valley.
Another asset in the Tweed Valley Trail Network is the Tweed Valley Railway Path, a traffic-free multi-user route up and down the valley connecting most of the main riding hotspots, maintained by the Tweed Valley Railway Path (TVRP) volunteer group. Mid-way along it the Cardrona Pump Track offering the chance to hone those bike handling skills.
The Tweed Valley is also blessed with a range of superb Guiding and Coaching Services so visitors can make the most of their visit, pubs and restaurants that welcome bikers in during and after a day on the hill and a whole host of accommodation providers who are setup with bike cleaning and storage facilities.
With many other activities on offer so those less keen on biking can entertain themselves whilst you’re on your bike, the Tweed Valley is rightfully the best place to ride in the UK!
