A pretty overwhelming majority from the public vote chose Aberdeenshire as your favourite place to ride in Scotland. The award was collected by local legend, Ride in Peace Adventures founder and Aberdeenshire Trails Association stalwart, Chris Roper.

'Mid-drive ebike motor designed and assembled in East Kilbride. As a Scottish found and funded business FreeFlow make a innovative ebike motor for OEM sales into the global bike industry.' David Hemming MD.

'The project was created in 2021, in response to the COVID pandemic creating a huge demand for the trail system at Cambusbarron, Stirling – a mixed use woodland in which a popular MTB trail system spans across local community owned land. This increase in MTB usage brought with it a number of challenges. This included significant littering issues, trail erosion, unsafe trail building and resultant clashes with other woodland users and the Community Development Trust.' Ali Hair, Trash Free Cambu.

Colin initially started volunteering at the Scottish Downhill Association races back in 2007 when he first took his son along to race. He would help out over the course of the weekend doing whatever he could for the race organisers. He was very quickly asked to become part of the committee and later stepped up further to become chairman in 2011. For the last decade Colin has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help grow the SDA to what it has become today. (Award picked up by SDA on his behalf)

Leanne starting by creating an online Facebook group the 'Glasgow Mountain Biking Girls', from this and her commitment to organizing weekly meet ups, fun race days and full weekend MTB and Gravel festivals. Leanne's focus is creating women only spaces that are safe, fun and supportive for women to either learn to MTB, improve or just enjoy riding with other like minded people. 'Our vision, as a voluntary community group, was to set up a mountain bike hub for the community of Dingwall. The aim was to provide a biking facility which gave people an opportunity to independently access bike trails from within the town without the need to drive. We wanted to create trails which were rideable for as wide an age and skill level as possible but at the same time make it fun for all abilities.' David Wilby (Award collected by Douglas Carchrie)

Chris has worked tirelessly for over ten years to create the original Tarland Trails and now the million pound Tarland Trails 2. Tarland and the wider Aberdeenshire will be boosted immeasurably by the addition of Tarland Trails two. The income to the town from extra mountain bikers will be a huge boost to the local economy. On an Aberdeenshire wide basis Chris’s work will help put Aberdeen on the map. Many have talked about such projects but few have achieved what Chris has. (From one of the nomination forms.)

'We have great working relationships with landowners, we have genuinely made efforts to involve them in our work, help them understand our aims and get them out onsite wherever possible. They have supported us to work with races, protecting our trails and push for further development. This year, with the impact of the storms, our working relationships have been pushed and tested and you know what - we are just about singing at the other side of it all.' ATA

'Deeside Thistle Cycling Club Youth and Junior Section support the development of cyclists between the age of 6 and 18, providing a safe, fun and social environment for road and off-road riders and racers. DTCC Y&J provide coached sessions across a variety of disciplines: enduro, downhill and cross country, as well as road, cyclocross, track, and grass track.' Gavin Baxter - DTCC

This was a unique festival run by women, for women. The 3 day event provided coaching, guided rides, film night, workshops from top brands in the industry and of course dancing on Saturday night. It was incredible to see so many women who ride bikes and women who work in the industry in one place! The Limitlass organisers put on a great event, the atmosphere was fantastic and it catered for all levels from complete beginners to those racing in the EWS100/British champs. Decided by a panel of esteemed judges from across the industry - Charlie was the very deserving winner of this award. He wasn't able to be there to pick up his award but has been in touch and is delighted to have won! We believe, one of the Comrie Croft massive will be delivering his award any day now....

We were delighted to hear that the panel had decided Ella was to receive this Award. She has had some ups and downs this year, winning EWS Tweed Valley then breaking her elbow in Val di Fassa to name a few, yet she has won through and continues to be an inspiration to so many. We have been lucky enough to work with Ella (and Iago) on a few projects this year and she is an absolute delight. Humble, accommodating and always with a smile. Good on you Ella!
