At this time of year even if you are going out and plan to be back well before nightfall, please always be prepared and take lights and extra battery with you. You never know when something could go wrong with your ride. A mechanical can mean a long walk home and that's pretty nasty if you've no lights. Or if you or one of your group has an accident and have to wait for help, again, pretty nasty with no lights.
