Dr. Jamie Marshall - ENU/Int. Surf Therapy Organisation
Dr. Jamie Marshall is an associate researcher at Edinburgh Napier University (ENU) who specializes in community-based approaches to supporting positive mental health.
He started his professional career by founding the Wave Project in Scotland being nominated as a Leading Light by the Scottish Charity Awards for his work in supporting youth mental health through surf therapy.
Building on this ‘in-field experience,’ Jamie undertook the world’s first Ph.D. explicitly exploring surf therapy's mechanisms, completed in September 2022. His post-doctoral roles include continued research at Edinburgh Napier University, evaluation lead at the Wave Alliance supporting sports-based mental health start-ups in the developing world, social impact lead at the upcoming Wave Garden Scotland development, and longstanding board member for the International Surf Therapy Organisation.
In his spare time, Jamie enjoys (unsurprisingly) surfing, freediving/spearfishing, and exploring the coastline of Scotland.
