An exciting virtual day where the mountain bike industry and community can explore opportunities, examine case studies of good practice and plan for a new post-COVID future.
The biennial Scottish Mountain Bike Conference is an important fixture on the mountain bike calendar of events in this country and across Europe. We started the planning process earlier this year but clearly in the current situation we all find ourselves in, we are unable to host a conference in the same way as previous years.
However, we know that whilst it has been a challenging year, there are opportunities for the mountain bike industry across Scotland that can be realised by bringing the sector, and the community together, to discuss, learn and share.
SO - we bring you the Scottish Mountain Bike Gathering 2020 and we want you all to be a part of it.
It will be an exciting virtual day where the mountain bike industry and community can explore opportunities, examine case studies of good practice and plan for a new post-COVID future.
The event will be opened by Tourism Secretary Fergus Ewing MSP demonstrating the support from Scottish Government for our growing Scottish MTB industry.
We know now, more than ever, the strength of the mountain bike community and industry working with Scottish Government, national agencies and Local Authorities is needed to secure Scotland’s position as a global leader. Together we need to discuss how we can maximise the opportunities which mountain biking brings including rural regeneration and development, community engagement, sustainably growing participation leading to improved health outcomes for Scots and supporting our athletes to achieve on the world stage. We want to firmly plant our country on the global stage and use the gathering to continue to build a sustainable future for Scottish mountain biking.
There will be a sessions highlighting large investments by the Scottish Government including the UCI Cycling World Championships 2023, Cycling Facilities Fund and Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal.
We will also be shining a spotlight on our premier destinations, announcing new trails and destination developments, demonstrating trail building good practice and examining the state of our sport.
A full programme will be announced over the coming weeks.

For the last few months we have been pulling together an ambitious programme for the Scottish Mountain Bike Gathering. The first digitally interactive, virtual conference we have attempted.
With 20 sessions taking place over the day, in the full extended programme, we hope that it would appeal to a wide audience and offer something for everyone to get excited about and involved in.
Attendees can pick and choose which sessions they wish to attend. There is no obligation to attend every session.
Please see link to download, check out what’s on offer over the day and sign up to reserve your place. We promise a fantastic insight into so many areas across the Scottish mountain bike scene!
The sessions will be powered through an innovative interactive platform and app developed by Highland company, XPONORTH. A full programme will be released shortly along with details of how to register for the event and choose your sessions.
