We recently reported Trek’s support for our new Trail Therapy programme
As a company, Trek are hugely supportive of the Scottish mountain bike scene and we would like to share some of the areas that they are getting involved and really making a difference.
Trek believe that bikes are a tool to vastly improve people’s lives and they appreciate that the cycling industry has a real responsibility to be advocates for programmes such as the Trail Therapy programme, that harness the power of the bike. Trek are hugely active across the Globe with many initiatives to improves peoples lives with bikes.
They take their social responsibility seriously from fighting racial injustice and putting an end to systemic racism in the cycling industry and beyond to climate change campaigns to normalise transportation by bike. They also are the largest annual contributors to the National Interscolastic Cycling Association (NICA) who put camaraderie over competition to help kids develop strong bodies, minds and spirits through mountain biking and IMBA US .
Their support for Scottish athletes is well known, with our current UCI DH World Champ, Reece Wilson donning the rainbow stripes last year, being supported by Trek. We can’t wait to see what this season brings for him.
Trek’s support enabled Fort William rider Mikayla Parton to step up from the senior women’s category into Elite Downhill racing for the 2019 race season and she had a phenomenal 2020 season, an incredible ambassador for both Nevis Range and Trek. With eyes on the stars of the future, young highlander Jamie Edmondson, will now form part of the he world’s youngest gravity-fuelled elite race team in 2021, sponsored by Rockshox and Trek.
TMO Racing is another way Trek are supporting the young Scottish riding talent. Tracey Mosley’s squad include the Tweed Valley brother and sister duo, Emily and Corran Carrick-Anderson, who are not only feeling the benefits of the support from former world champ Tracey and her husband James, but are also benefitting from the involvement of Trek.
In 2018 Trek partnered with Nevis Range and to date they have worked together on a number of initiatives to encourage and develop mountain biking at all levels at Nevis Range, whilst transforming the reach of the home of the Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup into a globally recognised Trek mountain bike destination. Both partners continue to be keen to develop these projects further, with new initiatives and events in the pipeline.
Trek have supplied Nevis Range with a fleet of mountain bikes, including a number of e-bikes. The e-bikes have been vital to the track maintenance team allowing them to reach locations on tracks and trails that have previously been inaccessible to vehicles, improving trail maintenance and development on all tracks and trails at the venue. With the new imminent opening of the longest blue trail in the UK, we are sure the team are mighty glad of some battery assist to help them out.
As a venue partner for such international the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in both 2018 and 2019, Trek have played a huge part in content creation and social sharing across multiple platforms to promote Nevis Range as a world leading mountain bike destination. This year, as event organisers tentatively move back to a race calendar, Trek are supporting Tweedlove’s Bosch eMTB challenge.
They have also supported Scotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre, Glenmore Lodge. Supplying a fleet of bikes to be used in mountain bike skills and leadership courses.
