New Mountain Bike Leader Conference to Launch in November
A new Mountain Bike Leader Conference will hold it’s first event in November at Glenmore Lodge, sportscotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre.
Co-hosted by Glenmore Lodge, Scottish Cycling and Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS), the 2 day conference will bring together leaders from all over the country and provide professional development workshops and opportunities to build confidence in different aspects of leading, as well as provide industry updates.
The two days will feature a series of interactive workshops focussing on topics such as the core leadership behaviour framework, navigation and the electronic tools available, trailside repairs as well as topics such as what practical considerations to make when a client is riding an adaptive cycle or an e-bike.
Mountain Rescue members will give input into advanced casualty management whilst Velotech trainers will share an insight into what they carry in their trailside repair tool kit.
Christine Fox, Mountain Bike Leadership Officer with Scottish Cycling/DMBinS said:
“We have been really keen for a number of years to bring together current leaders to share good practice, help leaders stay current with their knowledge, and really importantly, chat with each other about their experiences as a mountain bike leader and how they have overcome challenges or had ideas that really worked for them or their groups.
To be able to run this with Glenmore Lodge is fantastic as they have amazing, experienced tutors, great facilities and it is an awesome place to ride bikes. We hope many leaders will take this opportunity to join us.”
A series of structured trail rides are available, where leaders can choose one of the many groups that best suits their on-going leadership goals.
The event is being held on 8th and 9th of November at Glenmore Lodge and more details can be found here:
