EWS joins forces with the home of Eurosport

This is huge! What an announcement!

EWS Pietra Ligure 2020

An exciting new era for mountain bike racing beckons as the Enduro World Series (EWS) and EWS-E join forces with Discovery, Inc and Play Sports Group to revolutionise coverage of the sport. The commitment from Play Sports Group and Discovery, Inc will provide the existing EWS team with the backing they need to begin the journey towards live production for the first time in the history of the sport.

A huge achievement by the EWS team. Securing such significant investment from one of the worlds largest broadcast corporations, is a real gamechanger for the world of Enduro racing. By bringing the races to a huge global audience of fans and introducing the sport to many who may never have encountered the discipline is beyond cool. The opportunity to showcase destinations and the athletes and teams involved, cannot be underestimated.

Scotland will be one of the first destinations to benefit from the investment from Discovery, Inc, when the EWS hosts its first UK race in six years in Innerleithen this October, at the Vittoria EWS Tweed Valley and we cannot wait to see it unfold.

The investment will see an increase in the EWS team based in Innerleithen and is a huge boost for Scottish mountain biking as it continues to grown its presence on the Global stage.

Innerleithen based Enduro Sports Organisation joins forces with the home of Eurosport

A Scottish Borders company is riding high after securing significant investment from one of the world’s largest broadcast corporations, Discovery, Inc.

Innerleithen-based mountain bike events company the Enduro Sports Organisation, which owns and operates the Enduro World Series (EWS), announced this week that the USA based media company has invested with a view to creating live coverage of their races.

Discovery, Inc is home to Eurosport and the Play Sports Group, who along with the existing EWS team, will work on new technologies to bring the stage race format to air.

And the Borders will be one of the first destinations to benefit from the investment, when the EWS hosts its first UK race in six years in Innerleithen this October, at the Vittoria EWS Tweed Valley. The race festival will see some of the world’s fastest enduro racers take to the area's iconic trails, alongside amateur and e-bike racing, kids events, family-friendly entertainment and street food.

The EWS currently has ten employees on its books, but is preparing to rapidly expand its staff over the coming months.

Chris Ball, Managing Director of the Enduro World Series, said

“We are all incredibly proud to live and work in the Tweed Valley and so I’m excited to announce this new step for the company and our staff team. We’re delighted to be creating more local jobs in the near future.

“We’re looking forward to hosting our final event of the year in the beautiful Scottish Borders later in the year, and we can’t wait to showcase just how special this area is to a global audience.”

Andrew Georgiou, President, Eurosport and Global Sports Rights & Sports Marketing Services, added

“Discovery and its leading sports media brands have long been the Home of Cycling. Our investment in EWS fits nicely with that positioning and adds to our growing events business. EWS will be able to tap into Discovery’s global network and 360° offer that can help grow a sport both commercially and in terms of audience. We’re looking forward to bringing our commercial expertise, technology and distribution networks to scale the EWS product further.”
